What’s Your Fitness Attitude?

Fitness is often more about attitude than anything else because It is our attitude that often determines our level of fitness.

Isn’t it true, its our attitude that will determine whether we want to sit on the couch, go for a walk or get out to the gym for a workout?

A deciding factor in achieving our fitness goals is:

1. the way we feel about our health, and

2. what we believe we have to give up in order to maintain it.

These will be will be the deciding factors for our fitness success.

If we believe that we have to miss out on some pleasures in life, such as watching television or drinking with our friends then the price we have to pay for our fitness will seem too great.

Alternatively, if there are activities that give us “immediate” satisfaction, and more satisfaction than long term good health, then often the choices we make will be determined by giving in to our immediate needs (wants). That urge may override any health or fitness decisions we make to still be able to do those activities as we age.

Sadly, it is often not until it is too late that the wrong decisions, made because of our attitude towards health and fitness, determine the quality of life we are left with.

If only we could turn back the clock.

We need to look at our attitude towards health and ask ourselves the questions we would ask others if we were giving them advice.

Think about it.

1. Would you recommend someone start smoking or using drugs?

2. Would you encourage someone to drink excessive alcohol if they were asking for advice on finding health for life?

3. Would you recommend packaged, high sugar, high fat, high salt and food lacking sufficient nutrients over fresh, healthy choices?

4. Would you promote a sedentary lifestyle, watching sports on TV instead of getting outside and playing the game or going for a run?

5. Would you suggest it’s good to stay up late instead of getting a good night’s rest so you have the energy to work out the next day?

6. And lastly, would you encourage someone to stay feeling low or ashamed of how they look and feel instead of being proactive about their health and fitness?

Not likely - Yet we make decisions like this every day that we will pay for dearly in the future.
