Orange Apricot Ham

Perfect for Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter

Here’s the recipe for Orange Apricot Ham   – how to bake a glazed Ham that is a flavor treat for Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter.

These are easy instructions on how to bake a Ham that is a flavor treat for any holiday occasion.

Would you like to bake a ham but just want it to be a little bit different than the usual brown sugar glaze and pineapple rings?  Then this is the recipe for you. Dress your ham up with this orange-apricot glaze.

Baked Ham is one of the most popular meat dishes to serve at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners. Usually right around those holidays, the stores cooperate by putting them on sale which makes this a good time to stock up if you can.

Ham is baked in a big roasting pan (think about the size of your pan before you purchase it!) but many people just pick up a tin foil pan that is large enough to hold a ham.

If you are worried about how to bake ham - stop, right there - because it's pretty easy and just about foolproof – the only thing you have to avoid is overcooking, as with any ham.

Holiday Orange Apricot Ham

1 (5 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham

1/2 cup apricot preserves

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1 cup of water

1 cup of orange juice

1.       Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2.       Blend together apricot preserves and Dijon mustard in a mixing bowl.  Score the ham with shallow criss cross cuts.

3.       Spread preserves mixture over the whole ham.

4.       Gently pat brown sugar over the top of the preserve mixture.

5.       Mix water and orange juice together in a bowl.

6.       In a large roasting pan pour orange juice and water in bottom.

7.       Place the ham on a roasting rack in roasting pan.

8.       Bake approximately 1 1/2 hours or until ham is heated thoroughly.

You may need to add a 1/2 to 1 cup of the orange juice/water to the pan as your ham cooks and the liquid evaporates.

Use a meat thermometer to test for correct internal temperature.

Next holiday season, make it easy on yourself!
