Summer Lemon Lime Fruit Juice

Fruit on Skewers Adds Panache!

Not just thirst quenching, Summer Lemon Lime Fruit Juice is so pretty, it will make any meal seem like a party! No need to add alcohol to delight your guests.

Perfect for summer BBQ’s but just as appreciated at Christmas or for a special birthday party drink.

My first high school cooking teacher always stressed the value of making meals attractive , not just for our sense of smell or to the palate, but to the eye. In this case, beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder but the taste buds, too!

If the fruit is out-of-season or just too pricy for your budget, substitute another fruit. Use either fresh, canned or frozen. We’ve even tried dried pineapple!

In fact, if your guests or the kids are helping, set out the bowls of fruit and let people make their own skewers.

For that white tablecloth, candles, crystal and silver sit down, glitzy dinner, bring them to the table on a silver or glass tray with a tall lit taper candle in the center to show off the sparkle!

Enjoy!

Summer Lemon Lime Fruit Juice

Ingredients:

1 cup assorted melon balls
1 cup whole fresh strawberries cut in half
1/2 cup red grapes
1/2 cup sweet cherries, pitted
4 cups lemon lime soda
4 cups white grape juice
Crushed Ice, if desired

Instructions:

1.       Place the fruit on bamboo skewers.

2.       Place in a flat pan.

3.       Place in the refrigerator until very cold.

4.       Pour the lemon lime soda in a large pitcher.

5.       Pour the grape juice in with the soda and stir to mix together.

6.      Optional:  Add crushed ice to the bottom of each tall glass.  Let glasses chill slightly.

7.       Place the chilled fruit skewers into the glasses.

8.       Add the juice

9.       Serve.

Best Pennywise Tip: Vary the fruit to your choice and budget – but remember the prettiness is enhanced with fruits of different colors so try to have at least one fruit that is red or orange. If the fruits look pretty together, they’ll probably look pretty in the glass. Just as if you were arranging a bouquet of flowers.

For extra flair, and visual attraction, add a bit of maraschino cherry juice to the crushed ice, then pour the juice mixture slowly over it to create a sunrise effect.

Enjoy!
